Setting goals helps us to perform better. However, how do we know if we are setting the right goals? In reading an article recently I learned that the best students are not those who set the goal of getting a good grade, but rather those who focus on specific skills despite the grades they get. This is interesting because it goes against what most people think. We think that a good student necessarily equals good grades. That’s not true. This way of thinking leaves out the whole process of getting a good grade. If we seek good grades at all costs, we cram or worse, we cheat to achieve our goals. On the other hand, if you take a different approach, you are sure to get good grades in the long run. The problem is that the majority of exams are there to validate skills acquired in the short term, most often during a lesson.
Whether you are a soccer player or a martial artist, your career depends on choices made to optimize your athletic and technical capital. The best athletes are those who are able to constantly improve and correct their mistakes even if they sometimes encounter bad times. Essentially, you must know how to sacrifice short-term results to obtain greater results in the long term.
A good chess player is one who can think several moves ahead. Every decision is not left to chance. In order to get to goal Z, you must first go through steps A, B, C, etc. The problem is that you don’t know the steps because you haven’t been there. So you get lost, you make the wrong choices. We lose time. Everything would be easier if we knew the sequence of combinations just to get to the goal Z. That’s why you have to set the A goal before you set the Z goal. That’s why good students don’t set goals of getting good grades. It is a logical consequence of the preliminary work that will have been done.
Why are the best advisors valuable? Because they already know the intermediate steps and will be able to guide you along the path to your final goal.
Hiring a good consultant can be an expensive endeavor. But, considering the fact that the right person can help you reach your goals, the monetary investment may be worth it.
Before beginning your search for a good consultant, it is essential to first identify the goal you would like to accomplish. Having a clear understanding of what you would like to accomplish will aid in the selection process in a variety of ways.
Once you have clarified your goal(s), you will be in a better position to look for an appropriate consultant. When searching for a consultant, it is important to identify someone who has a track record of accomplishment in achieving the same type of goal you are looking to reach.
Therefore, the most effective way to find the best consultant is to research their past successes and how their methods aligns with your goal. You can acquire relevant data from their past clients or from online or print sources. This will give you a valuable insight into how their methods have worked for other people and whether they would be suitable for you.
Another way to identify the best person for the job is to ask for recommendations from trusted friends, family or colleagues. Word-of-mouth references are valuable tools to build trust the source and your relationship.
In conclusion, there are several ways to find the right person who can help you reach your goal. It is important to keep in mind the importance of taking time to identify the right person. A well-qualified consultant may be an excellent investment in that they can provide valuable insight and advice that can put you on the path to success.
